Have you ever wondered what you could make with a handful of buttons and a few scraps of materials? You could make a button doll of course. So what is a button doll I hear you ask…well, the traditional button doll had a two dimentional keyhole shaped cloth body, with arms and legs made with random buttons and a simple cotton dress. BUT…Linda Wilson and Maria Rippingale have been making button dolls for the past few months and have put together a handwritten instruction book on CD “ANGELS IN ABUNDANCE” which has 15 very individual patterns for all types of angels. You can make a cat angel, bedtime angel, country angel, traditional angels and even a funky punk! It’s available in Ebay shop “Button dolls in Abundance” So for those of you who are fortunate enough to have a button tin that perhaps belonged to a relative, chances are that some of those buttons hold precious memories…so why not use them to make a button doll that is almost certainly destined to become a family heirloom. You will also find button doll kits in the shop too.
